Computing Which Saves 100X Over Current Energy Usage

It is a while before commercial implementation but scientists have discovered a material which could speed computer processing while requiring 100 times less power. Since the projected energy consumption is projected to dramatically increase over the next 20 years, this could save a great deal of energy.

New Material Could Make Faster Computers That Use 100 Times Less Energy

To prepare for a boom in electronic use (from 5% to upwards of 50% of energy consumption) scientists have created a material requiring 100 times less power. The material is far from implementation in consumer electronics but will help to significantly curb energy consumption.

This material is composed of composed of alternating layers of iron oxide and lutetium oxide.
